VDNKh hosted URBAN TRANSPORT International Show of Innovations on November 22-24
URBAN TRANSPORT International Show of Innovations is a global event in the field of public transport in Russia and CIS countries. This year the Show was held on November 22-24 at VDNKh, Pavilion 75. Its Strategic Partners were State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans and State Unitary Enterprise Moscow Metro.
URBAN TRANSPORT presented creative infrastructure and technical developments aimed at improvement of the urban passenger transportation services. Relevant officials, senior managers of domestic and international companies and industrial enterprises, as well as operators and contractors, that is to say the trendsetters in urban and commercial transport industry, took part in the business program. In three days, more than 2500 people visited the show, 470 delegates, and 35 companies from 27 countries took part in it, 149 mass media covered its work.
The first business day of URBAN TRANSPORT started with the plenary session “Public Transport 2.0. More Than a Way to Travel” dedicated to the challenges that the transport systems have to deal with at regional and national levels. The session was moderated by Alexander Polyakov, CEO of State Unitary Enterprise MosgortransNIIproekt.
A combined presentation of projects and achievements of Moscow transport system continued the URBAN TRANSPORT business agenda in a new TM Talks format. TM Talks presents Moscow transport projects in the TED format. The main feature of this presentation type is the speaker’s expertise and in-depth analysis of the topic in hand. TM Talk ended with the award ceremony for the winners of Transport Hackaton international developers’ contest. For three days, November 18-20, programmers and designers from Russian cities and 20 foreign countries were developing projects to improve the quality of passenger services in the metro and other modes of public transport in the Russian capital. The winner was “EZ Colors” team from Colombia.
The business program of the show was continued by the session entitled “Public Transport Fleet. Renewal Methods”. Its key topics were industrial design and digital technologies, vehicles of the future, passenger security, when implementing robotic solutions, and alternative energy sources. The session was moderated by Alexander Ovanesov, Managing Partner of Strategy Partners Group.
The second business day of URBAN TRANSPORT International Show of Innovations was opened by the session “Infrastructure. What Factors Affect Mobility of Population” dedicated to the distribution of passenger traffic during long-term infrastructure projects, impact of transport hubs on urban environment and transformation of parking space within agglomerations. Its participants were Christian Boettger, Development Director of A+S, Alexander Egorov, Head of Transport Hubs Development Division of Moscow Metro, Mikhail Ivanov, CEO of NTechLab, and Alexey Safronov, Senior Advisor of State Programs and Budgeting Office of Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation. In his presentation, Alexey Safronov brought up a hot topic – a new railroad through Moscow: “Our priority now is the incorporation of railway radial directions into Moscow integrated transportation network in order to make it passenger-friendly, safe and attractive.”
Within the session entitled “Digital Services. How Public Transport Becomes Customized,” Maxim Schneyder, Deputy Head of Business Block Control Passenger Transportation Department of JSC Russian Railways, spoke on a new vision of JSC Russian Railways: “We have left behind the concept of the passenger, and now the concept of the customer becomes our main priority. Our objective is to create a sophisticated service in which transportation per se is only a part of it.”
Moscow Transport stand hosted the events participated by senior managers of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Department for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, State Unitary Enterprise Moscow Metro, State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans, and other transportation companies and enterprises. The topics of the presentations were as follows: “Taxicab Service Development”, “O-D Matrix as a Key Tool for Transport Planning”, “Development of a Travel Payment System in Moscow Metro”, “Implementation and Development of Moscow Metro Mobile Application”, “Freight Transport Traffic Development”, “Tariff and Ticket Menu Optimization”, “Development of Contactless Trip Payment Systems for Land Urban Passenger Transport”, “Pedestrian Space Planning”.
The Annual Meeting of Members of the International Association of Enterprises of Public Electric Transport completed the business program of URBAN TRANSPORT. 59 senior managers and experts in the field of urban electric transport of Russian, Belarusian and Czech cities took part in it. They decided to establish an enterprise for technical inspections of trams and trolleybuses and create a road map for 2018. They also discussed the current issues of the Association.
The fair within URBAN TRANSPORT Show of Innovations presented breakthrough solutions of 35 Russian and foreign companies. For example, its participants had an opportunity to get acquainted with the concept of Moscow 2G electric bus KAMAZ Drive Electro. The innovative electric bus provides a 17% decrease in the ownership cost for 7 years in comparison with the Euro-6 diesel engine bus. Its energy accumulator gets charged at the destination stop, this process takes only 6 to 20 minutes. PC Transport Systems LLC presented the modular cab of a tram car (100% ready-made module of the driver's cab or the rear platform of a tramcar) and a special diagnostic workshop, and CARiOT company was the one to present an innovative turnkey car-sharing solution. The social function of the service is to unclog the roads, improve the environmental conditions by prompting car owners to give up their private vehicles. The solution was developed on the basis of Skolkovo Innovation Center.
Strategic partners of URBAN TRANSPORT were State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans and State Unitary Enterprise Moscow Metro. The event was supported by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and Moscow City Government (Department for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow).
